still in love with pink and brown

Living in a tropical country means having a monotonous wardrobe. The stifling heat prevents us from wearing snazzy jackets, mini dresses, and knee-high boots. A shame really, because I think I would look cute in that outfit. Aherm.

Geography does not give me enough reasons to make and wear scarves. So I was thrilled when Joy asked me to make scarves. She needed it to comply with some work-related policy. Well, my enthusiasm did not match the result as I came up with only rectangular things with rectangular designs.

In other news, I was commissioned to make four different bags out of one fabric. The owners work in the same place. It’s funny.

Say hello to my shabbily painted closet.

I’m thinking of declining orders this month. I will work on a proper collection. By the end of this month, I hope that my shop would already be complete. Oy, too many things to do.

It’s a good plan, really. Insert coffee dates,  DVD (F.RI.E.N.D.S.) nights, and Mexican dinners into the equation and my life would be peachy.

“Hello, peach boy.” (You know who you are.)

Ty barged into my room and said…

“Let me teach you how to take measurements properly.”

“First, you measure the chest area. You do it this way.” IMG_5270.jpg picture by miwiyam

“Then you measure the snout, you see. You do it this way.” IMG_5268.jpg picture by miwiyam

*Sigh* “You’re not listening. It’s no use.” IMG_5266.jpg picture by miwiyam

“Go away. It’s impossible to teach you how to sew.” IMG_5253.jpg picture by miwiyam

In other non-feline-related news, I am thinking of finally changing the direction of my little Internet space here. I’m still working on some tweaks here and there. Hopefully, I do this right.

making a little bag factory

I have just finished sewing the big totes for Kaith. However, I have no time to rest because I have more bags to make for my sister’s workmates.

This is the bag that my sister stole and shamelessly pimped at her office, contributing to the onslaught of orders.

And this one was shipped off to my mother. I also sent her the “Sunny Side Up – Rice Field” bag. The feedback that I got was, Thanks for the bags. They match my Monday and Tuesday uniforms. (She’s a university professor and that statement was an oh-so-subtle attempt to force me to make her bags that would match her Wednesday and Thursday uniforms. Fridays are washdays.)

And this brown one I made for me, initially. But it turned out too cute that I don’t want to make it dirty. It’s made of this beautiful Japanese linen with prints of cats and washed-out city buildings. I cut the fabric in a way that would take advantage of the prints’ horizontal pattern. I even used my favorite glossy and thick brown fabric for the lining.  This one will have to find a new home soon or it will become another dust magnet in my room.

There are moments that take your breath away. There are moments that make you believe that you’d live forever.

Last night, I entered my room with this lovely surprise:

Thirty yellow balloons with the word YELLOW on them.

And Coldplay’s Yellow playing in the background.

I cried. He cried.

I’m still floating.
