The next miniature dollhouse I’m making is inspired by The Alcott Study and will include the following:

That’s right, I’m making a miniature sewing room. Woot!

This is the book I’m using:

It had to be a book about sewing or anything craft-related, of course. I chose this because it was one of the cheapest at the second-hand bookstore and the endpapers had a beautiful blue/white pattern reminiscent of Delftware pottery.

PROGRESS:

made a window with a farm view

installed popsicle stick floorboards (to wood stain or not to wood stain?)

added rolls of fabric / that shelf used to be a wooden meter stick / this "wall" is illustration board with the lovely endpaper from the back of the book pasted on top

pale pink curtains made of paper, sticker, and crocheted lace

That dress form by the corner was whipped up last night. And that sewing machine was handed down to me from the boyfriend’s cousin. It’s a fridge magnet.

I have spent many hours browsing eBay and looking for items to be added to this miniature sewing room. I knew that a sewing room would not be complete without a dress form but I just could not bring myself to click “BUY” knowing that I’d spend a lot of money for shipping and other fees. Last night, in what could only be called a feat of derring-do, I grabbed a random block of Styrofoam and started carving. With my actual dress form as reference, I came up with a rather voluptuous miniature version.

here she is, complete with a filigree cap stand

And that’s it for Show and Tell today. What are you making these days?
