About two or so years ago, I started reading The Discworld Series of Terry Pratchett. The months and years that followed were infused with magic, humor, and brilliant storytelling. When I reached the last page of the 39th book, I was sad. For many weeks, no book was good enough, no writer could not surpass the genius that is Terry Pratchett.

I recovered from the happy hangover by starting on Gone Girl. Unfortunately, riveting the book may be, finishing it is a problem. You see, the boyfriend started reading The Discworld Series a week ago and has monopolized the Kindle. He is so utterly in love with the story (and Terry Pratchett) that he started raving about The Colour of Magic right from the prologue.

He is so in love that he drew this:

Color of Magic - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No MoreThis was inspired by the elephants standing on great A’Tuin’s back. This was inspired by one of the magnificent creatures carrying the Discworld.

He submitted it on Threadless. He hopes that, by the grace of Io, and your kindness that this design will get printed. (Click on the image above or to the right to vote)

Now getting inspiration for design work from an astounding work of fiction is not crazy. Making fan art is a normal way to express how much you like a story. But guess what he said to me just as we were about to sleep last night?

“Can I get a Discworld tattoo?”

Ridiculous.
