goal: help make weddings instagram-worthy

Well, I hope.

A former officemate contacted me a couple of weeks ago about making decor for her wedding. She wanted map-covered 3D letters and a bunting in turquoise and apple green. I said yes for two reasons:

1. I wanted an excuse to buy Mod Podge. They are not available locally, you see.

2. I happen to love wedding-related commissions.

It was my first time working with Mod Podge. This thing is so incredible, I may have asked the jar to marry me while working on the 3D letters. The boyfriend was quite taken with the old school vibe of the label, too.

As for the bunting, I turned to the ever-reliable freezer paper. I thought about painting the letters directly using paint and a paintrush but it was one of those moments when I was simply, unquestionably overestimating my skills.

I found the fabrics for the bunting while looking for materials for another project. I love it when that happens.

I should have displayed the finished bunting hanging from our red/white Volkswagen but can you feel the summer heat from the photo above? Yeeeeah, there was no way I was going to take ten steps to said car. This is the tropics. The sun bites here.

  1. EEK!!! I LOVE THOSE LETTERS!!! I love map art and bunting, so cute and so much fun that you got asked to do some DIYs for a wedding! Happy Friday!

  2. Wow. They’re beautiful. I made mini buntings for my daughter’s first birthday but used cartolina for it. Hmm, I did want to make the 3D letters but never got to it – what materials did you use? :)
