tutorial: easy way to turn rings into magnets

You know how when you’re asked to think of a movie title or a song on the spot and your mind goes blank? The same “mind freezing” phenomenon happens to me when I am asked to come up with DIY projects. This usually happens when local TV shows are the ones doing the asking.

So when I was told that I might possibly be doing another TV guesting featuring some DIY ideas, I politely asked the producer to give me several days to prepare. And below is one of the projects I came up with: turning old cocktail rings into magnets!

I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, “you needed several days to come up with this incredibly simple idea?” Heh. Yeah….

But anyway, here are the easy-peasy steps to follow if you’re in the mood to turn your accessories into office essentials:

You will need cocktail rings (the bigger/flashier the stones, the better), industrial glue, magnets, pliers.

Remove the metal hoop from your ring using pliers. Just wiggle it until it breaks apart.

Dab a bit of industrial glue onto one side of a magnet.

Attach to the back of the ring’s stone. Let dry or cure overnight.

And voilà! Bling for your notes!
