relax bear; fan girl

Do you know Rilakkuma?

He is a bear who loves to relax. His name is Japanese for relax bear, actually. I didn’t know of him until I took home a tea set with him and his friends as the design. Browsing Wikipedia made me more knowledgeable of his enviable life.

Because shouldn’t the purpose of life be relaxation?

Taking Rilakkuma’s cue, I spent the night being the fan girl of Dean Koontz that I am. Read a new Dean Koontz all through dinner and coffee.

Dean Koontz isn’t exactly who you read if you want to relax but I take comfort in the fact that his novels are full of quirky and lovable characters and that his stories are full of hope. And they have smart  dogs.

i’m still on the fence about the iphone

That friggin’ device is just too complicated for my simple brain, really.

BUT its positive points are piling up as days go by. The boyfriend just got the Polaroid app, for instance, and I have been crazily taking photos and turning them into Polaroids. I have been giggling while taking the said photos, too. Makes me wish my DSLR is small enough to carry wherever I go. Or that I have a real Polaroid.

can you believe it’s almost Christmas?

I open a box of pins and this is the first pin that greets me:

Its brothers weren’t even sharp enough to pierce my pin cushion. Psh. I call for better quality in the pin-making industry.

In happier news, can you believe Christmas is 10 days away? I am very excited. Visiting the boyfriend’s folks’ home always adds to my excitement. I can’t help it when I’m greeted with these Christmas decor delights:

one should not live without an apron

apronWe have some progress in the “making aprons for friends” front.

These days, my craft area is the unfortunate victim of sunlight reflected on newly installed tin roof. The landlord constructed a garage/shed.  Sunlight hits the roof most of the day and showers my craft area with unwelcome heat. I am praying that they paint the roof soon because clearly, I do not have time to sew curtains.

But I have figured out the hours when my sewing machine table is free from reflected light. Hence, the apron-sewing progress.

I am also tickled to be using my new embroidered tags.

The first apron I made:

This photo is missing a tray of freshly-baked cookies. But I don't know how to make 'em, so...

I am happy to report that I have gained weight and the dresses I made before February 2008 now fit me again. This bed sheet dress with circular bottom is one example.

Paired the dress with these new boots I got from eBay for a bit of a vintage look:

Neckpiece is a rosette hair pin clipped onto a layered beaded necklace.
