how to make a pin cushion for sewing machine

Have you seen this little pin cushion attached to my sewing machine?

It’s the epitome of ugly and sad. The color is terrible. It was supposed to be a jigsaw puzzle piece but it’s not really clear. And that ribbon! Ugh.

So I whipped a new one up in just a little less than thirty minutes. There really is no need for a tutorial but I felt like taking photos. So…

1) trace the shape of your pin cushion. mine was round. i used a bowl to get the shape.

2) prepare ribbon or string of equal length

3) pin parts together with ribbons at opposite sides

4) sew and leave a gap for turning inside out

5) feed with fiberfill

6) handsew shut

7) ready to be attached to its new bestfriend

And here is Lorelai’s new bling:

    Hi!

I made one of these for my sewing machine; and I love it! I used a CD and the size is perfect! However, I went a bit further and added a bum-bag clip so I can clip it on and off.

PS. I just realised this post was made on my birthday! I turned 14…if you wanted to know. :D

Hullo! I’m using an Everyday Homemaker sewing machine. This is from K-Mart, I think,

Instead of your elastic/ribbon to attach to sewing machine, I suggest velcro tape.
