Do you know the best way to wake someone up? With amazing/cannot-wait-to-shout-this-to-the-whole-world/i-will-burst-in-excitement news. Hands down, the most fantastic way to grab someone from The Dreaming.
I will let the boyfriend do the shouting himself when it comes to his news. My own news involves the rosette prototype I made the other night.
Here is the finished product:

And the news bit: this (and another project that I will sew in a few hours) will be included in Sew It All, Volume 2. The issue will be available at the end of the year.
And yes, I am a happy little sew-er, skipping about in excitement (and too much coffee?).
Happy Tuesday to all!
Anything is possible with a good pair (or two) of pliers.
I wanted one of these:

But was only willing to pay for this:

But with some handy tools, I ended up with this:

I have this insane habit of refashioning handmade jewelry that I buy. It’s not an insult to the original crafter, oh no. In fact, I don’t think I will be buying them in the first place if I didn’t think they were gorgeous. The thing is, my hands (and yes, the brain, too) almost always itch to play with metal chains, jump rings, and locks when there is at least one beautiful element around. Often, that beautiful element is a pendant or bead that is part of the handmade item I bought; the very reason for the purchase.
It’s a sickness perhaps?

More than a year ago, I wrote this tutorial. Can you believe that I still have the same rosette and that I’ve never really found a use for it until lately? Yes, it’s a brooch and I’ve use it as such but I have found out that there are other ways I can incorporate it into my fits of fashion madness (or disaster, depending on the day).
1. Corsage or Wrist Cuff
I was inspired by this post, which was actually inspired by my tutorial. It’s a circle of inspiration! A perfect way to jazz up an intentionally dull outfit.

2. Necklace Attachment
Inspired by the neckpieces worn by Miss Emma Pillsbury on Glee.

3. Headband
Simply pin the rosette brooch to an elastic and you’re good to go! Of course, you can also use the ribbon you would use for the corsage or wrist cuff if you want the band to show.

My little corner of the Pacific Ocean experienced the wrath of Mother Nature a week ago. My city escaped with nothing but manageable rain and wind but a month’s worth of rain fell on Metro Manila in a span of 6 hours.
I cry easily so please forgive me if I don’t type the harrowing details here. You may check this website for more info on what happened, though.

The boyfriend and I attended the Live Aid concert last night at The Outpost to extend a bit of help. I’ve never seen the place so full on a Wednesday. We had to wait almost an hour for a table. Many people donated what they can for the victims. The aim of the concert was to fill 2 container vans with relief goods and I’m certain the organizers were successful.
In a craft-related note, I bought these from this handmade goodies vendor outside the bar:

But good soup can always fix a day that started with exasperating phone calls, a forgotten package, slammed doors, and hormones gone awry.
These were in the package:
